Yesterday we gave you a first look at the Facebook phone with the Android UI, Facebook Home. At the event today it was finally revealed and we’ve got you a first look at the phone and what happened at the event.

The event was held in Menlo Park California around 9:00 in the morning. First, Mark Zuckerberg took the stage clarifying that the phone is not made by them directly, nor are they making a whole new operating system. The phone will be running a different version of Android called “Facebook Home” which shows you new comments or posts right on the home screen. The features are explained more in the Home video.

Facebook also announced a new messaging service called Chat heads. It works on both SMS and Facebook messages. This will be like the Google+ or Gmail chats.

Facebook Home will launch on the Google Play store on April 12. The tablet version will be available in a few months. Facebook said they will treat Home just like a regular Facebook app updating it every month with new features.

Right now a few devices are ready for Home including the HTC One X, One X+, Samsung Galaxy S3, and the Galaxy Note 2. The Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One will be ready soon.

The HTC First will be the official Facebook Phone that is meant to run Home. The HTC First will be available on April 12 for $99 exclusively through AT&T.
