New Mac Pro has a Removable CPU

12/27/2013 18:22

A teardown of the new Mac Pro has revealed that it has a removable CPU. Why should people care about this? When buying your Mac Pro there will be some things that you will want to configure before you buy it.  The CPU, or as Apple calls it, the processor, can be upgraded for an additional $3,500 to the price of the base-line Mac Pro or $3,000 on the other model. Going with the standard CPU at the time of purchase will save you all of that money. Then, you can go over to Intel and buy that exact same CPU for a fraction of the price that Apple is charging. However, there are some problems with doing this. You risk voiding your warranty and not being able to put your computer back together after you install the new CPU.
