Roku Launches Competitor to Chromecast

Roku today introduced a new device to their streaming line-up. Roku already has a few streaming devices, such as the Roku 2 and Roku 3. Those are competitors to Apple’s Apple TV. Now, they have announced a “Streaming Stick”. This is very similar to Google’s Chromecast. Much like the Chromecast, the Roku Streaming Stick is a little dongle that connects to your TV via HDMI. Other then the design differences, you get most the same features and functions that are found with the normal set-top boxs. One thing that is nice is the included remote so you can control the Streaming Stick from your couch. While the Apple TV includes a remote, the Chromecast is designed to be controlled from your iOS or Android device or computer.

The Roku Streaming Stick will cost you $49.99, while the Chromecast costs $35. This is the same price as the Roku 1. The Streaming Stick is currently available for pre-order, but you can purchase it now here.
